Strategy
for the work
that matters.

Independent Consulting  ·  Essex Junction, VT

I help mission-driven organizations build the strategy, systems, and capacity to deliver lasting change — and prove it.

What I Do

Four ways I help
organizations move forward

Every engagement starts with honest conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and what's getting in the way. Then we build — together.

01
Strategic Planning
& Roadmapping
Facilitated planning that builds genuine alignment — not just a document that collects dust. From theory of change to board engagement, I help teams translate vision into actionable roadmaps with real accountability built in.
Planning
02
Impact Measurement
& Data Systems
Helping organizations know what's working, prove it to funders, and use data to actually improve — not just report. KPI frameworks, performance dashboards, Results-Based Accountability, and Social Return on Investment analysis.
Data
03
Capacity Building
& Executive Coaching
Building the internal muscle to sustain progress. Executive coaching, staff development, grant readiness, and organizational systems designed to outlast the engagement and grow with your team.
Coaching
04
Community Engagement
& Stakeholder Strategy
Bringing together the right people around shared purpose — across power differences, sector divides, and competing priorities. Multi-stakeholder facilitation, community needs assessments, and cross-sector partnership development.

About Alden

I've led the work.
Now I help others
lead theirs.

For 13 years, I led EMERGE Connecticut — a nonprofit social enterprise focused on workforce development, reentry, and economic mobility — growing it from a $750K organization into a $2.8M operation serving hundreds of community members across New Haven.

I know what it takes to manage funders, build community trust, navigate board dynamics, develop staff, and make data actually mean something. That experience is what I bring to every engagement.

Based in Essex Junction, Vermont. Available throughout New England and nationally.

How I Work

A practitioner's approach
to consulting

01

Listen First

Every engagement starts with honest conversation — not a template. I spend time understanding your context, constraints, and what's actually getting in the way before recommending anything.

02

Co-Create

Strategy that sticks gets built with your team, not delivered to them. I facilitate the thinking, hold the structure, and make sure the people who need to own the work are in the room.

03

Build to Last

The goal isn't a great report — it's real change that outlasts the engagement. I focus on building your team's capacity alongside any deliverable, so the work continues after I'm gone.

Let's build
something that
actually lasts.

Whether you're at a strategic inflection point, need better data systems, or want a thought partner who's been in the trenches — I'd love to hear about your work.
